What is Das Winzer?

Das Winzer is a historic 19th-century winegrower’s house in Pötzleinsdorf, in Vienna’s 18th district. The house has eight fully furnished suites, a coworking space, an event room with a kitchen and a garden pavilion. The suites are available in two forms: ‘Suites – short stays’ and ‘Suites – for longer’.

Where is Das Winzer?

At Pötzleinsdorfer Straße 93, 1180 Vienna – surrounded by green, between the Pötzleinsdorfer Schlosspark, the vineyards and the Vienna Woods. Neustift and its Heurige (wine taverns) are within walking distance, and the city centre is around 20 minutes away on tram line 41.

How do I get to Das Winzer by public transport?

The ‘Pötzleinsdorf’ tram stop on line 41 is a three-to-four-minute walk away. From there it takes around 20 minutes to reach Schottentor in the city centre.

Along the line, you can change at ‘Gersthof’ to the S45 suburban railway, to tram lines 40 and 9 and to bus 10A. At ‘Währinger Straße/Volksoper’ the line crosses the U6 underground line, and you can also change to bus 40A or tram lines 40 and 42. The next interchange is ‘Spitalgasse’, with connections to tram lines 5, 12, 37, 38, 40 and 42. At the ‘Schottentor’ terminus you can change to the U2 underground line, to all the Ringstraße trams – lines D, 1, 37, 38, 40, 42, 43, 44 and 71 – and to buses 1A and 40A. At night, the N41 night bus runs directly from the city centre to ‘Pötzleinsdorf’.

You will find a printed Wiener Linien network map in the lobby, free to take. We also recommend the Wiener Linien app ‘WienMobil’, which shows current departures, disruptions and routes.

Can I come by car, and where can I park?

Yes. Enter our address in your sat nav: Pötzleinsdorfer Straße 93, 1180 Vienna. You will find parking directly on Pötzleinsdorfer Straße. Please remember that on-street parking is subject to a charge throughout Vienna. You can pay for parking with the ‘Handyparken’ app.

Can I cycle into the city?

Yes. There is an extensive network of cycle paths, and the newly designed cycle path into the city starts at the ‘Pötzleinsdorf’ tram stop. You are welcome to hire our e-bikes for exploring. Please send enquiries to booking@daswinzer.at or via your booking platform.

How long does it take to get from Das Winzer to Vienna city centre?

Around 20 minutes. Tram line 41 runs from the ‘Pötzleinsdorf’ stop, a three-to-four-minute walk from the house, directly to Schottentor on the Ringstraße.

What shops are there around Das Winzer?

The area around Das Winzer is full of culinary spots to explore and enjoy. Right next door is a long-established bakery that still bakes on the premises – it hardly gets more local than that. A ten-minute walk or one tram stop away, you will find two supermarkets, a pharmacy, an Italian delicatessen, a hairdresser and a second branch of the bakery with a café.

Around Gersthof station there are shops for all your everyday needs, and further along Währinger Straße plenty more shopping. At the ‘Kutschkergasse’ stop you can visit the well-known Kutschkermarkt, which – especially with its farmers’ market on Saturdays – is a culinary highlight and a meeting place for the district.

Is Das Winzer accessible?

Partly. Our house is a converted period building, and we do our best to make it as accessible as possible for everyone. Suites 1, 2, 7 and 8 have step-free access from the ground floor. Suites 3, 4, 5 and 9 can only be reached by stairs. Please bear this in mind when choosing your suite.

Is there a lobby or a shared lounge at Das Winzer?

There are books to borrow and information leaflets to take away. The lobby is not intended for eating; please take your drinks with you when you leave, and return any books you borrow so that others can read them too.

Is there a garden I can use?

Yes. Enjoy the views from the suites over the courtyard and garden. You are free to use the lawn next to the terrace on the lower level, and the terrace too, as long as no event is taking place there. A herb garden grows in front of Suite 2 – take what you need for your cooking and leave enough for the others in the house.
